Understanding the Texas Teacher Workforce
Seventy-eight percent of Texas Public School teachers say they have seriously considered leaving their profession in the past year. Teachers’ sense of appreciation from their elected officials, communities, and Texans overall have been persistently low since the pandemic. Yet 70 percent of public school parents give their community’s public schools an A or B grade. The Charles Butt Foundation has polled Teachers and Texans for five years to better understand how to support our schools, teachers, and students. Join us for a discussion of the findings from their most recent polls and their implications for school and district practices as well as state policy.
