Tool Exploration: Ed-Fi and Texas Education Exchange for Researchers

Jerry Lashley, Texas Education Exchange; Amy Musgrave, Texas Education Agency; Andrew Rice, Education Analytics

Looking for local, up-to-date, and granular data to enhance and accelerate the research efforts in your Texas research-practice partnership or collective impact work? The Texas Education Exchange – a collaboration between the Texas Education Agency, Education Service Centers, and Education Analytics – is building a low-cost, local district data warehouse based on the Ed-Fi data standard to provide a statewide solution. To date, 130 districts have data flowing into a local data warehouse, and about 800 more are in queue to begin loading their data by May 2025. Come learn how the technology works to provide data in standardized formats that can be used for scalable, cross-district research, as well as an introduction to the kinds of data housed in the Exchange. Bring your questions and curiosity for an interactive discussion on the Exchange and potential research efforts that could utilize these data.
